PLATFORM
Hello, I’m Lois Bower Bjornson. I’m running to represent the people of Pennsylvania House District 50 because our communities deserve practical leadership that focuses on results, not partisan politics. Our region has a proud history built on hard work, strong unions, and close-knit neighborhoods. My goal is to protect that legacy while building a stronger future for working families.

Economic Growth and Good Jobs
I will fight to support existing energy jobs while attracting new clean energy industries and support new and existing small businesses so people can find good-paying jobs without leaving the community they grew up in. That means investing in infrastructure, supporting local entrepreneurs, and expanding workforce training programs tied to the skilled trades, manufacturing, energy, and emerging technologies.
Strong Public Schools
Every child deserves access to a well-funded public education. I support fair school funding, competitive pay for teachers, and expanded career and technical education programs that prepare students for college, the trades, or local industries.
Affordable Healthcare
Healthcare costs are one of the biggest burdens facing families. I will work to protect rural hospitals, lower prescription drug prices, and expand access to mental health services so everyone in our district can get the care they need.
Infrastructure and Community Investment
Safe roads, reliable, clean water systems, and fast, affordable broadband are essential for economic growth and daily life. I will prioritize state investment to repair aging infrastructure and expand high-speed internet access to every community.
Supporting Workers and Retirees
Working families built this district. I will stand with organized labor, protect pensions, and ensure workers have safe conditions and fair wages. Our retirees deserve stability and respect after a lifetime of work.
Transparent and Accountable Government
People are tired of politics that ignores everyday concerns. I will listen to residents, hold open town halls, and make decisions based on what is best for the district—not special interests.
Together, we can strengthen our communities, create opportunity for the next generation, and ensure that the people of District 50 have a strong voice in Harrisburg.
